Microsoft is preparing to offer a free Virtual Private Network (VPN) service for its Edge browser. This feature is called "Edge Secure Network" using the Cloudflare VPN service, and according to the company, this feature is expected to come in a future update.
The Edge Secure Network feature is still being developed but works similarly to other VPN services. When enabled, encrypts the incoming and outgoing traffic of the browser. Internet services can also prevent your browsing behavior and information or hackers from spying on your information. Additionally, this service allows users to hide their common IP address and location using a virtual IP address.
Although this service is free for Microsoft Edge users, it is reported to be limited to 1GB per month. To use this new VPN service you will need to use a Microsoft account.
As mentioned earlier, the Edge Secure Network feature is still being upgraded. But once it is released, you will be able to activate it by going to the "Settings and more" menu and selecting the "Secure Network" option.
After activating the VPN, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account, and you will see the shield icon notify you that the Edge Secure Network feature is enabled.
